Why is it important?
Under the Whistleblowing Directive 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) and a number of other laws, organizations are required to operate a whistleblowing system. The scope of persons covered under Act XXV of 2023, as adopted.

The AIM of the legislation is that IF you see abuse in the workplace, despite the variety of communication channels available today, you may find it difficult to report it. This is addressed by the EU’s ethics hotline ensuring anonymity.
It is legitimate for anyone to fear retaliation if they are found to have made the report, or not to know who to turn to. The aim of the legislation is to make organizations more transparent by allowing employees and business partners to report perceived abuse. It does this by ensuring that the person reporting the abuse and their supporters are not disadvantaged or retaliated against.

Under the EU’s whistleblowing regulation, all organizations with 50 or more employees and municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants are obliged to set up a whistleblowing system. Automated reporting - straight to the investigator
In case of a notification, the reported observation is sent to a predefined investigator in the software. The investigator is also notified of the report by e-mail. The built-in case management system allows the designated person to both monitor the individual case and place it in context.

GDPR - data protection
